WAITROSE has submitted a planning application to Wiltshire Council for the development of land alongside the by-pass, behind the Silk Mills. The proposal includes an 18,000 sq ft foodstore with revised parking, long stay parking spaces and traffic calming measures.

The proposals also potentially include a town centre fund to boost the High Street. Crucially, for some High Street traders, the new proposals don't appear to include a cafe, which many retailers felt would keep visitors to the store from venturing into the High Street.
